Low-Density Microspheres and Composite Materials Research Institute

Low-Density Microspheres and Composite Materials Research Institute

The Low-Density Microspheres and Composite Materials Research Institute (referred to as the "Research Institute") is jointly established by the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, the Tong'an District People's Government of Xiamen, the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Zhongke Hairui (Xiamen) Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. It is specifically operated by Zhongke Hairui (Xiamen) Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.

The technical capabilities of the team primarily stem from years of research accumulation by the Microsphere Materials Preparation and Application Technology Research Group (Microsphere Team) at the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Microsphere Team has completed a series of national research tasks and developed and industrialized various advanced inorganic non-metallic materials, such as high-refractive-index glass microspheres and hollow glass microspheres. Further research and development of high-performance solid buoyancy materials represent independent innovation achievements supporting major national projects. The team possesses internationally advanced independent intellectual property rights in this field, laying a solid foundation for industrial applications. These materials have been successfully applied in manned submersibles such as the "Deep Sea Warrior" and "Striver," as well as full-ocean-depth unmanned submersibles like the "Canghai," "Haidou-1," "Siyuan," and "Wukong."

The Research Institute will address the significant needs of Xiamen's new materials and cutting-edge strategic materials industry. Leveraging the research capabilities of the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, it will gather high-quality innovation resources domestically and internationally, lead and develop disruptive technologies, promote the transfer and transformation of advanced technological achievements, and strive to build a model R&D and innovation platform in Xiamen, contributing to the high-quality economic development of the city.
